I am reminiscing on my past few Easters, which I’ve spent with my Papa Burch & Grandma Janice. Two years ago, I was single, last year I was a newlywed with my husband. This year I came with a family of four, with my husband and twin baby boys.
I am marveled. I am full of gratitude. My heart is so full and so grateful. God is so good.
You see, two years ago, I chose to pursue a new and deeper level of surrender in my Christian walk of faith. I felt God place upon my heart the need to die to my own desires and surrender my hopes and dreams to him. I felt led to entrust my heart and hopes to his care.
My deepest desires were to be a wife and a mom, and I had reached the end of myself. I was growing so sad of the prospect of being alone. But I was also growing more confident in the woman I had become. I’d spent the previous year focused on loving myself well and retraining my mind to believe what God says about me.
And I decided God’s plan truly is best…even if it meant dying to my hopes and dreams.
That was April of 2014. In July of 2014, I met David. By the next Easter, we were married. And now I’m the most blessed woman in the whole world with the best husband and two little boys.
I write all this to boast in my risen savior and Lord. For he knows the plans he has for me, and they are plans to prosper me and not to harm me. His plans are to grant me a hope and a future. I just had to trust him first and die to my plans and agenda. I had to learn to trust in his perfect love.
And just as Christ arose from the dead and defeated death and the curse of sin, my hopes and dreams were raised to life once I laid them down.
Give God your hopes and dreams. For the same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in us who believe.
