Here are some thoughts I jotted down back in 2010:

I did not enjoy puzzles as a little kid. Figurative puzzles (riddles and unknowns) got on my nerves. . . I like knowing the “why’s” and “how’s,” and I was one of those annoying kids who asked a billion inquisitive questions.

And I never really got into the literal type of puzzles. I got bored with them way before the picture started to emerge.

As I’m blossoming on my life’s journey, though, I’m starting to have a newfound fascination with puzzles. I think it’s brilliant to think that each piece is strategically colored and shaped to fit right alongside of several others. And yet, those few pieces—in and of themselves—are still boring. But when you get a whole lot of random pieces and place each of them into an intentionally created spot, a beautiful picture is formed, piece by piece. And isn’t it so annoying when the puzzle is completed but there are a few (or even just one) missing puzzle pieces? It leaves you with this nagging sense of an incomplete picture.

How many persons live life with that type of purpose? How many of persons tap into the One who’s already pre-planned how the Big Life Picture is supposed to look like? I see so many people aimlessly going through life and not connecting with the One who’s made them for a bigger purpose.

Most people have felt the stinging feeling of emptiness and purposelessness. God’s created us to have a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. But the only way we can ever possibly obtain that is when we place ourselves—our very lives—into his hands. He’s made us to ‘fit’ where he has designed us to.  And all of our strivings and efforts toward achieving what we think will bring us the most pleasure and/or satisfaction will always fall short unless we know what we’ve been made for.

We aren’t here by chance. You know that deep down. You are here with purpose and intention. Puzzles don’t just happen; they are pre-planned by a designer. I like this quote I heard two weeks ago by a man named Andy Stanley, and it inspired me along these lines of thinking: “God has invited me to become a part of his story.”

Join God’s bigger picture. Surrender. All you’ve got to lose is control. It’s funny to think of how terribly difficult that is. And yet, God is the designer. Get ready for the most fulfilling life imaginable. You fit. God knows where. Let him guide you there.

I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me (Psalm 27:2).
