Here is a poem I wrote back in 2001, I believe. It is written as a letter of encouragement for us to strive to view each other with eyes of purity.

“Dear Brothers”

Dear Brothers,
I am so thankful for you.
You lead, as you follow the Truth.
You manifest His character in ways which I cannot.
I thank our Father for the balance our differences have brought.

Yet my heart is full of utmost concern,
And in humbleness I pray that I will learn
To get down on my knees more and more on your behalf.
To combat the darkness and deceit the world boastfully enacts.

Oh how I pray that you will see me with purity.
I pray that you will only stare at the real person within me.
In love, I would rather your eyes to be plucked out,
Than for sin’s alluring trap to hinder them from being devout.

It may be easy to belittle the severity of lust.
Yet, it truly does hurt your sister, who has given you her trust.
Not trust in your perfection, for I know you’re human too.
But trust in your ambition to love and respect me in all you do.

I pray as well, for myself and my sisters; for we too should be full of shame.
Desiring attention more than your purity, is seeking unloving, selfish gain.
May we examine our motives and refine our focus, as this truth remains:
A woman who fears the Lord, she is the one to be praised!

I realize the direction you’re to travel opposes the trend.
This is why I must pray all the more diligently for you, my friends.
You are men of God; you are set apart.
I pray you’ll entrust to Jesus this and all other areas of your heart.

I love you, brothers, with the love Christ has placed in me.
I love my sisters too; I’m grateful we’re all bonded in unity.
But in anguish I long for the lost to be found.
Oh brothers, please only view ladies as either your sisters, or as slaves who are bound.

With confidence in our Lord, who continues to purge His own–
I know He will grant you the ability to exemplify the love He has shown.
In return, I’ll gladly show you respect, and my joy will exceed that which I can expound.
Now let us seek our highest calling, and glory in His renown.

With much sincerity,
Your sister in Christ Jesus

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”
